Birdwatching - A single trip to Tucson Arizona can add dozens of species to a birder's life list. Our diversity of terrain, mild climate and proximity to Mexico is responsible for the more than 450 species recorded here. Birding is a hobby of ours here and just off the condo patio we have seen Gambel's Quail, Greater Roadrunner and various Hawks and Hummingbirds. In the area, we've seen Black-crowned Night-heron, Great Horned Owls, Common Moorhen, Red-winged Blackbird, Killdeer, Harris's Hawk among other hawks, etc. If you like hummingbirds, this area is the best in the U.S. with at least thirteen species found in the southeastern corner of Arizona each year. The nearest park, Catalina State Park, has a Birding Trail where you could see anything from white-crowned sparrows and pyrrhuloxias to phainopeplas and vermilion flycatchers and more. Tombstone, Arizona - Walk in the footsteps of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday as you visit the infamous O.K. Corral, Birdcage Saloon and Boot Hill Cemetery in Arizona's "Town Too Tough To Die." Nogales, Mexico - Just across the border and well known for unique, hand-crafted merchandise and outstanding deals. Arizona Desert Jeep Tours - Travel the rugged trails once roamed by Native Americans, Spanish Conquistadors and American Cowboys with a knowledgeable guide who'll thrill you with tales from Arizona's colorful past. Bicycling - The November 2006 issue of Bicycling magazine ranked Tucson third in cities with a population between 200,000 and 500,000 people. The high marks included the city's average of 300 days of sunshine, a bicycle-friendly culture and a strong bicycle advisory committee. In metropolitan Tucson there are over 500 miles of bikeways, this includes signed bicycle routes, bicycle lanes, shared-use paths and bus/bicycle lanes. Many very scenic bikeways run along the Rillito and Santa Cruz rivers. Saguaro National Park, Tucson Arizona - Renowned home of the famous western Saguaro cactus. Excellent hiking, driving and touring. Gambling is available at three nicely appointed casinos.
